Shadow of Whales has been quite busy since releasing “Dream” back in January; performing on Austin’s KTBC – FOX News; being featured on the Music Biz Weekly with Michael Brandvold Marketing and Brian Thompson of Thorny Bleeder; being reviewed by Chuck Taylor, and by the Indie Band Guru. Without slowing down one bit, (not even ‘just a little’) the alternative indie-band will release their new single, “Just A Little” on February 25th.
“With its youthful pop/rock aura, Shadow Of Whales delivers an ace with “Dream,” which beautifully fits the mold of Green Day and Fallout Boy… Commanding, youthful, nicely delivered… [Dream] is a professional song with sing-along hooks and a phenomenal live performance…” – Chuck Taylor on “Dream”
Fans may recognize “Just A Little” as the song that Shadow of Whales debuted with last year. They submitted an abridged music video of their now upcoming single to be considered for the opening band for Dell World at the Austin Convention Center in December 2013. The video set a trend among the competition and won them a slot to open for musicians such as Slash, Billy Idol, Billy Gibbons of ZZ Top, and Robin Zander of Cheap Trick as a part of Camp Freddy.
“There were traces of early Killers(when they were great) and Franz Ferdinand that jumped out at me right away. I was taken aback by the energy of the song…” Indie Band Guru on “Just A Little”
Artwork seems to be a big deal to the band as their fans will frequently comment on artwork they post and the band frequently re-tweets artwork and projects made by their fans. Both “Dream” and “Just A Little” feature artwork done by Meredith Brooks who specializes in multi-media and screen printing art. Their t-shirts were also done by a specialist, Kyle Dillon, who has worked with bands for quite some time.
