The members of indie pop-band Shadow of Whales (SOW) were downtown this weekend interviewing local Austinite’s during the filming of their music video. “What’s your dream?” SOW asked. As the interviewee answered they would write their dream on a whiteboard, and hold it up to be featured in the band’s music video which will hit the internet on May 13th.
Shadow of Whales released their debut single, “Dream” this January, and has brought it to the rest of the world through various concerts since then. Now on the back-end of their tour, they are gearing up to release the visual rendition that takes the music a step further. “We want to encourage everyone to follow their dreams.” said Jeremy Boyum, Shadow of Whale’s bass player, “People can often make us feel like our dreams aren’t achievable, or that our dreams are silly or naïve or even unimportant, but that’s not true. We’ve been given our passions for a reason and we want to bring that truth to people, whether they are a fan of ours or not.”
Shadow of Whales continues this theme online where they connect to people daily through Twitter and Instagram. “Whenever we gain a new follower, one of the first things we do is ask them what their dream is, encourage them to pursue it and to not give up.” said Jeremy. The independent pop-band will bring this yet another step further this month as they start their “#SOWdream” contest, which will give their fans the opportunity to have their dreams featured on the front page of Shadow of Whales website as well as win free memorabilia. “We want to spread this message the best we can, we genuinely care about our fans and people in general, and we really want to encourage them as much as possible and see them be successful.”
