Loud Harp Interview

Anchor Music News was privileged to interview Asher Seevink and Dave Wilton of Loud Harp in order to learn more about their latest record, Asaph.

Where did the inspiration for your latest record, Asaph, come from?

Asher: “Last winter, Dave was listening to a talk on Psalm 11. I was listening to a lady talk on Asaph’s psalms. This surprised me. We read Asaph’s psalms and connected to them on a deeper level. These psalms are about God’s provision and being a provider.”

Why did you include a full band on this record?

Dave:” There was a full band just stripped down on the first record. We didn’t expect to write songs on the first record. We wrote the album in two days. With Asaph we wrote the album’s songs in 3 days. We were more thoughtful through this process.”

What is your favorite song on Asaph?

Asher: “73 Nearness of You,” “Lift My Eyes,” and “Fire and the Flood” are my favorites. These are some of Dave’s favorite songs as well. The Lord ministers to me through them. It is weird listening to my own music. I’m thankful there are no bad songs.”

What are your plans for the rest of 2014?

Asher and Dave: “We live in different states. We are serving in our communities in Utah and Colorado. There will be a short stint of touring mid summer. We have families. We will be playing at a conference in Costa Rica, in New York with Guitars For Glory, and in the UK at David’s Tent.”

My favorite song is “Steadfast Love.” What was your inspiration for this song?

Asher: “We spent a lot of time in the Psalms. Psalm 144 is the inspiration. This song is a picture of God’s love.”

Will this album be released through Come & Live!?

Asher: “It will not be released through them.  They are going in a different direction than we are. Asaph will be released independently. You can buy physical copies.”

This album is available through Amazon and iTunes

10% of all digital album sales are going to Guitars For Glory.
