RESIDUAL KID SET TO RELEASE CHARITY SINGLE: “Friday on My Mind” – ALL PROCEEDS TO BE DONTATED TO THE HOSPICE AUSTIN AND LIVESTRONG

residualkid

(AUSTIN, TEXAS) – Residual Kid are pleased to announce the release of their first new music since their acclaimed debut EP Faces in 2012 – a cover of The Easybeats 1966 hit single Friday on my Mind. The single was recorded at the suggestion of Residual Kid friend and fan Miriam “Miri” Hyman who passed away on July 4, 2014 after a battle with Breast Cancer. At her suggestion Residual Kid recently recorded the track and filmed an accompanying video (http://youtu.be/1-E3DgTNztE) and presented both to Miri privately in June 2014. The band has chosen a “pay what you wish” sales model and hopes to raise significant funds to donate in her memory. All proceeds from sales of Friday on My Mind will be split between Hospice Austin (http://www.hospiceaustin.org/) and the Livestrong.org (http://www.livestrong.org/). The track will be available for purchase on Tuesday July 15th at www.residualkid.com.

To celebrate the release of the single, as well as the Residual Kid singer/guitarist Deven Ivy’s 16th Birthday, Residual Kid will play a headline tour kick-off party at The Patio at Empire Garage on Friday July 19th (606 East 7th Street / 8pm doors, 9:00 show, FREE to 21+ / $5 surcharge for under 21). The show also features performances by Austin favorites: CUNTO, Obscured by Echoes and Carl Sagan’s Skate Shoes. The subsequent headline tour – which takes place July 25th through August 3rd – will include stops in Denver where RK will be among the headline performers at the Underground Music Showcase alongside Blonde Redhead, People Under the Stairs, Real Estate, club headline shows, a Daytrotter session, and a Warped Tour appearance in Bonner Springs, KS on July 31. The band will end their tour in Dallas on August 3rd at the Gas Monkey Bar & Grill. The Dallas show will be Residual Kid’s first since its appearance at June’s Pegasus Festival (which was headlined and curated by Brand New). Residual Kid will end their summer dates on September 13th at Ft. Worth’s Panther Island Pavilion at the Toadies 7th annual Dia De Los Toadies Festival (which features Old 97’s, UME and others). In addition to summer touring, the band continues to demo new material for their new deal with BMG Music Publishing and they have just signed with the Agency for the Performing Arts (APA) in New York.

Residual Kid is a three-piece punk/grunge band featuring teenage brothers Ben Redman (drums) Max Redman (bass) and Deven Ivy on guitar and vocals. Their breakout performances at SXSW 2013 garnered the band international recognition and they have since recorded with J Mascis (Dinosaur Jr), Steve McDonald (OFF! / Redd Kross) and Andre Kelman (Beastie Boys / Cat Power) while compiling material for a series of EP’s which are intended to be released throughout 2015. The band is available for interviews and can be contacted through their manager Barton Dahl at info@residualkid.com / 917-216-9974
