Anchor Music News had the privilege of interviewing Avalon Landing. They are a Pop Rock band from Las Vegas that’s making waves in the music industry. In this interview we talk about their new music video, music venues, and in depth look at the band’s message.
AnchorMusicRob: I noticed you have a unique concept for your video of The Cure. How did you decide on the concept?
Avalon Landing: We wanted to do a video that attempted to speak to some universal emotion in all of us. We used people on the street and just had them do whatever they wanted to. The narrative became the degrees to which people were willing to let themselves go.
AnchorMusicRob: What has been the reception of the music video?
Avalon Landing: It has been great. Seems like people get what we were trying to do so that’s good. And even if they don’t see the whole depth of it, it’s just a fun video and that’s okay too.
AnchorMusicRob:What was the inspiration behind the song?
Avalon Landing: The Cure’ is about how crippling it can be to rely on the acceptance of another,” the band reveals. “Be confident in yourself and in what you do. If someone you respect doesn’t approve of who you are, maybe they’re not worth respecting. Be proactive. Lead a positive life. That’s the cure.
AnchorMusicRob: You guys released Reside in November of 2013. It’s an awesome record. Where does your sound come from?
Avalon Landing: Thank you. That’s just the five of us getting together and molding our different ideas together. I credit our producer Bryan for helping us a lot on the record, too. He really acted as a sixth member of the band. I also think recording in a house rather than a studio helped.
AnchorMusicRob: What are you hoping your fans get from Reside?
Avalon Landing: Just an enjoyable experience. Hopefully people find something on there that speaks to them.
AnchorMusicRob: Where did your name come from?
Avalon Landing: Avalon Landing is the title of the fictional book in Finding Forrester.
AnchorMusicRob: What is your message?
Avalon Landing: Challenge yourself and be willing to go outside your comfort zone a bit. Trust yourself. You’ll be surprised what you can accomplish.
AnchorMusicRob: What are your plans for 2015? Any new music?
Avalon Landing: We are writing more music right now and I don’t know how or when that will manifest itself on a new recording yet but it’s exciting. We’d also like to make it out to SXSW in 2015.
AnchorMusicRob: Name 3 bands you want to tour with?
Avalon Landing: Death Cab For Cutie, The Oneders, and Louis CK
AnchorMusicRob: Name 3 venues you want to play at?
Avalon Landing: Hollywood Bowl, Troubadour, and two nights at Madison Square Garden
