EXCLUSIVE: Calamity Jane Debut “Rest Easy” Music Video

The boys from Belton are back! Calamity Jane is releasing their brand new music video to a brand new song you’ve never heard before TODAY, exclusively on Anchor Music News.

The last time we saw these guys, they were fresh off of releasing their EP “We’ll Explain When We Get There” which garnered high praise from the likes of Absolute Punk, Property of ZackFor The Love of Punk, and more. In a recent Facebook message, the band had taken a vow of silence to finish writing their new record and from the looks of the video the silence did them good. “Little update. We are going to take a break for just a little while, and we’re going to get this album written for all of you… We’ll see you guys when we have more songs!”

During their silence they went into the studio with Joshua Flores from Shadow of Whales to begin working on their new music. Now they’re back (from outer space) for a short time, and they’re giving us just a little taste of whats to come. They still have a lot of studio work ahead of them but they finished out this single to let us know what direction they’re headed in and the direction is good. (And kudos to the band for working hard to keep their fans involved in what they’re doing during the writing process)

The music video is dedicated to the memory of their friend Victor Tabullo, “Victor was a friend of ours.” says guitarist Cameron Brickell, “This summer he lost control of his car and ran into a parked semi. He was a super-genuine, nice guy who wore Hawaiian shirts almost as bad as mine.”

The “Rest Easy” video highlights pretty much everything you’d want to see in a punk music video: hanging around in an isolated environment with your best friends, doing whatever the hell you want, destroying stuff, throwing stuff with disregard to the possibility of injuries, playing punk music together in an abandoned shed; the video pays great homage to the punk community. Secondly, the song “Rest Easy” is a really fun track and it is just too “easy” to jam to. It features fast, hard-hitting, punk-leads, inspiring punk lyrics, complete with claps, tambourines, gang chants and a whole lot more. The song is awesome, there’s just something that happens when you listen to it; it’s this boiling feeling that comes from within you that just screams “YES!” I’m even more so excited to experience it live because in a crowd this song would be that much more amazing!

But, don’t take my word for it, you can see/watch/hear for yourself. We are happy to premiere Calamity Jane’s “Rest Easy” music video, exclusively here on AMN.
