To stop everyone from the possibility of being slightly disappointed, no, Fall Out Boy did NOT release a cover of the Offspring’s “The Kids Aren’t Alright,” it is an original. It will be track number four on their upcoming album “American Beauty/American Psycho” which is scheduled for global consumption on January 20th of the new year.
The album is available for pre-order right now on iTunes and FOB’s website and include instant downloads to “The Kids Aren’t Alright” and “Centuries” which has already gone platinum reaching over a million sales.
The band explains the artwork in a Facebook post:
“this photo was meant to capture the threshold between the american beauty and the american psycho… what rages on the inside- how we what we all feel is permanent and impermanent all at once. we can change but do we really want to? activate yourself, protect your dreaminess. or break it- ‘because without the cracks the light couldnt get out.’
“Rock and roll doesn’t necessarily mean a band. It doesn’t mean a singer and it doesn’t mean a lyric, really. It’s that question of trying to be immortal.”
