Everyone is raising their glasses to the next Ocean Hand’s EP “Here’s to Then.” Graciously, the band decided to premier their track, “Can’t Stop” with Anchor Music News. Read our thoughts, listen to the song and give us your thoughts in the comments below after the jump:

An acoustic remake EP following their 2013 debut album, DreamCatcher, is a bold and daring move; it’s also one of the smartest moves I think they could have made. As you can tell by listening to the new single, Ocean Hands shows off just how diverse and creative they can be. “Can’t Stop” is fantastic from start to finish, with the poppy acoustic guitar, the catchy whistles, and the dancing beat, I think the word I’m looking for is “Great!” and I’m not the only one who thinks so:

“Ocean Hands finds a striking middle-ground between synth-pop fascination and sonorous indie-rock…They have the potential to become radio darlings”-Mike Mineo of Obscure Sound

Radio-darlings is right, Ocean Hands wiggled their way into radio stations such as 91X in San Diego and if that wasn’t good enough, they’re songs have appeared in commercial ads for companies like Contiki Tours and Telstra, the Australian phone company; and all of this in just the last year. It comes as no surprise that inDspotlight Productions listed them as one of the Top 50 bands of 2014.

“Can’t Stop,” coincidentally, is one of the first songs the band ever wrote, and it brings up the nostalgia of their early years. The song has evolved from the spunky love melody it had been before on DreamCatcher, to a folk charmer that sits as the centerpiece of the new acoustic EP. Here’s To Then is going to take some of their greatest hits on DreamCatcher, and strip them down to basic fundamentals while also adding elements from their more recent material, creating something entirely new. Think of it as an old Ocean Hands meets new Ocean Hands fusion.

It’s very clear to us that Ocean Hands has been continuing to focus and hone in on their skills as individual musicians and as a collective group. “Can’t Stop” [acoustic] is a track that I just can’t stop listening to and their acoustic EP is one that I am waiting for in high anticipation. What do you think of the track? Tell us below in the comments.
