“This was by far the biggest thing I’ve ever been able to be a part of. Serious shout out to Shadow of Whales for getting me in as crew because being able to shoot bands like The Maine and Mayday Parade (different post) that I have been listening to since jr high and high school was so surreal.
The guys had some South by Southwest shows the day before and we had to be at QuickTrip park by 7am meaning we had to leave around 3:30am to be there in time. We had our friend Colten (from the band UGLYTWIN) drive up most of us with a trailer (sooooo awesome) but I had to drive Gandalf (my car) because I wasn’t sticking around all weekend.
The rest of the morning consisted of a bunch of setbacks: it was cold/rainy, load in didn’t start until like 10 something, forgot the merch table, needed a tent, it was cold/raining, some guy kept aggressively screaming at everyone “YOU CAN’T PARK THERE,” some of the guys forgot jackets, it was raining, it was a pain getting in our guests on time, Josh and Caleb were feeling kind of sick and did I mention it was cold and rainy?
But once the guys started playing, man… I love this kind of chaos.
