Windwalker Interview

Anchor Music News had the privilege of interviewing and seeing Windwalker live at Walters Downtown. In this interview we talked about their latest music video, local music scene, and favorite sports teams.

I was very impressed at the comradery between each band member. They were very laid back and eager to conduct the interview. They gave me a shirt for interviewing them, which was humbling. Their live set was incredible. They had lot’s of energy and were constantly getting fans involved. They played all the songs of their EP and new song Apathy. It is obvious based upon my interview and witnessing their live set this is a band on the verge of something big.

Rob: Where does your name come from?

Windwalker: We went through 200 names and came up with Windwalker. We were fed up with trying to find other names. We settled on that. We can add a meaning to it throughout. For right now it’s just a name.

Rob: You released a music video for Apathy earlier this year. What inspired the song and video?

Windwalker: It’s more of a relationship thing between parents and kids. I know many people that have gone through that. It’s about neglect and that disconnect between parents and kids. The video pushed the boundaries of what the song had meaning towards. That’s what we were trying to go for. We wanted something that was in your face and be out there in relation to the song. We wanted to write something that relates to people. The other night a fan came up and told us how much that song meant to them. We don’t want to dumb down emotion.

Rob: What are your plans for the rest of 2015?

Windwalker: We are in the process of writing another EP. We want to do more touring. We don’t have any specific plans. We have 20 plus songs.

Rob: How has your local scene impacted your music?

Windwalker: The lead singer switched from the Northern Virginia scene. Dallas is really different. Everyone is more professional and more on top of their game. I’m glad I did. It has changed my mind on how the scene works. The singer and guitarist said I was apart of another local scene that was really good. This band has gotten me back into the local scene and wanting to go to shows and watching other bands.

Rob: If you could tour with three bands whom would they be and why?

Windwalker: Architects, Northlane, and Stick To Your Guns

We want to tour with Dayseeker again and our friends.

Rob: What is your favorite sports teams?

Windwalker: FC Dallas, Bayern Munich, Dallas Cowboys, and Texas Rangers

Rob: If you could go to one sports event what would it be?

Windwalker: World Cup, Stanley Cup, and Super Bowl

Rob: Anything you want to plug?

Windwalker: Dayseeker because they are awesome tour mates and keep an eye out for us.
