Brandon Williams Leads You Out of “The Wilderness”

Brandon Williams

Have you ever listened to an album and been blown away by it’s originality? This is how I feel while listening to Brandon Williams “The Wilderness.” This album is a game changer in Christian music. It brings soul back into this industry.

“Secrets” was the first song I heard from this album. He previously released an acoustic version. I am impressed with the new version. You can hear the passion of how sick our secrets keep us. The quirky guitar parts stand out. “The Get Away” instantly hooks you with Brandon’s voice. It has a throwback sound with a chorus destined to be stuck in your head.

“Ghost” has guitar parts and group vocals destined to help enhance your worship experience. The lyrics, “You have no power over of me anymore” is an anthem and call to change your life. This song is about moving forward from your past. “The Wilderness” finishes this album on a high note. This song showcases and emphasizes Brandon’s vocal range. The end of this song sounds similar to Kings Kaleidoscope.

This is an album from an artist spreading messages of hope and renewal. This album showcases both attributes and more. The vocals are well done. There is a distinct range and passion. The instrumentation shows a diversity and technicality people will enjoy. I would rate this record a 4.25 out of 5. This is based upon it’s creativity, technicality, and lyrics. My favorite song is “Secrets” because I personally struggle with keeping secrets from those that love me. I love the throwback sound.
