Video has surfaced, from this past Sunday at Mod Club Theatre in Toronto, of The Story So Far frontman Parker Cannon drop kicking a female fan off stage who trying to take a stage selfie. This isn’t the first time controversial video of Cannon has popped up. Last June (2015) at a show in Houston, Texas, the singer kicked a young fan also trying to take a stage selfie. Let’s not forget the time he took action against over aggressive security either.

I’m not sure where I stand on this topic. As a musician,  I think stage selfies are selfish and annoying. People payed money to see the band, not to see you stand in the way for 2 minutes trying to line up the perfect selfie. Oh the other hand,I don’t think you should treat a fan that way, no matter how annoying. Of course at a show, you can expect to get bumped/pushed around. However, I do think the situation could be handled better. I also don’t think it’s ever okay for a man to hit a lady, ever. This brings up the age old topic of stage selfies and on-stage fan interactions. Bands seem to have different view points. I’ve seen videos of band members kicking phones out of selfie-hopeful’s hands, and read articles from other bands that care what fans do.

About Jacob Andrew

Jacob Andrew has had a passion for music from a very young age. Noticing a natural talent in keeping a rhythm, Jacob Andrew’s mom enrolled him in drum lessons at age six! As soon as he stepped into that music shop for his first lesson, his passion for music spread like wild fire. A few years after taking drum lessons, Jacob Andrew saved up enough to buy a guitar and started teaching himself to play. Fast forward to now Jacob Andrew can play over 10 different instruments, and is an accomplished singer/song writer!
