3 Metal Bands You NEED To Know

  • Earth Groans

Earth Groans

Earth Groans

For lovers of heavier music, Earth Groans is the band for you. They bring a perfect blend of brutal vocals, crushing breakdowns and hard hitting lyrics. Their unique form of chaotic hardcore is something that JT Cavey (Texas In July, Erra) described as “This is the most interesting, refreshing thing I have heard in months.” Not only do they have amazing music, they also work ridiculously hard building their fan-base and non-stop touring the country. On top of all of that, this South Dakota band as a whole are some of the nicest dudes you will ever meet. Check out Earth Groans video below and find their newest abum “Renovate” on iTunes or www.earthgroans.com

  •  Backwordz

For all you metal heads, Texas band, Backwordz is a band you need to keep your eye on. Politically driven lyrics paired with catchy lyrics and driving riffs make for an incredible and unique sound. With elements of rap, metal, and so much more, to say this band is a breath of fresh air in the music scene would be an understatement. Apparently, I’m not the only one who thinks so either. Having formed a little over a year ago (January 2015), Backwordz has quickly gained thousands of fans on facebook and earned tens of thousands of views and plays on their music. Check out this video below and witness for yourself.

  •  Carried Weight

Carried Weight

Carried Weight

This California band is nothing but straight up heavy hardcore. The kind of hardcore that makes you want to pit while you’re driving to work, shopping for groceries, and just about anywhere. What really gets me about Carried Weight is their insanely addicting riffs and haunting lyrics. I literally have dreams where these riffs are playing in the background. I have found myself playing their music on repeat for the past two weeks. I can’t seem to get enough of it. Another thing I really like about this band is the continual love and support they have not only for their local scene but music in general. They’re constantly playing benefit shows and sharing songs from bands I would have otherwise never heard of. Check out this single “Waste” below.

About Jacob Andrew

Jacob Andrew has had a passion for music from a very young age. Noticing a natural talent in keeping a rhythm, Jacob Andrew’s mom enrolled him in drum lessons at age six! As soon as he stepped into that music shop for his first lesson, his passion for music spread like wild fire. A few years after taking drum lessons, Jacob Andrew saved up enough to buy a guitar and started teaching himself to play. Fast forward to now Jacob Andrew can play over 10 different instruments, and is an accomplished singer/song writer!
