I had the opportunity to cover the Nothing But Thieves show when they came through Houston on Sunday night. I had seen this band previously in London way back in July of 2014. That show had a completely different atmosphere than this one as the one in London was a ‘hometown’ show and was filled with friends and family. The show in Houston was on a completely different level and I am happy I got to experience it.
Nothing But Thieves has always put on a good show. Their stage presence is absolutely incredible. There wasn’t a missed note or lag in energy for the hour that they were on stage. They played all of their hits and even added a new song to the set list. The crowd was loud and you could feel the excitement in the air. Conor Mason, the lead singer, even named Houston the best show on the tour. Everyone in the room was screaming and sang along to every song. I haven’t seen a crowd that hype in a long time and it was really refreshing to see. ‘Graveyard Whistling’ and ‘Itch’ were definitely crowd favorites. And their three song encore performance, which included ‘Trip Switch’, left the room on a high and craving to see the band perform live again.
In conclusion, Nothing But Thieves put on an absolute killer show. From seeing them play a small show at a bar in London to a sold out show at the House of Blues in Houston, Texas is insane to me. They have come so far in the 2 years I’ve known about them and I am excited to see where they go next. If they are coming to play anywhere near you, I recommend you get tickets as soon as you can. This band is going to go so far and you don’t want to miss out.
