Intramural Album Review

13669013_1042480129162577_2982654252531332864_nThis past Friday San Antonio pop punk band, Intramural, released their long awaited EP, Lovers // Liars. Along with member changes and singer, Este, being shipped overseas twice with the army, this album has been in the works for about a year and a half. “We took our time writing these songs because we wanted to make sure each song was perfect and unique,” guitarist, Jeff Lopez said. This album was definitely worth the wait. Maybe it’s because I can currently relate to the lyrics, maybe it’s because I’m a sucker for pop punk or maybe it’s simply because this album is a banger. Whatever the reason, this album hit me right in the feels. Stylistically, this album reminds me of mid-2000s pop punk similar to bands like Every Avenue and Hit The Lights. Let’s not pretend like we don’t miss all those bands. Intramural is a breath of fresh air, beautifully blending a nostalgic feel with modern vibes. Pair that with catchy riffs, beautiful melodies and lyrics that make a grown man (me) cry, you get an album that, in my opinion, is near perfection. “My favorite thing about the album is that each song has a different mood and together that paint a story,” says Lopez. All my fellow sad boys and girls will definitely find themselves singing along to these songs while they’re driving around or thinking about their ex. If you don’t have the album yet, don’t wait another second to grab it. You can find it on all major online retailers and you can watch the lyric video for “All To Yourself” below.

About Jacob Andrew

Jacob Andrew has had a passion for music from a very young age. Noticing a natural talent in keeping a rhythm, Jacob Andrew’s mom enrolled him in drum lessons at age six! As soon as he stepped into that music shop for his first lesson, his passion for music spread like wild fire. A few years after taking drum lessons, Jacob Andrew saved up enough to buy a guitar and started teaching himself to play. Fast forward to now Jacob Andrew can play over 10 different instruments, and is an accomplished singer/song writer!
