Who is Naked Walrus?

Naked Walrus is a band with a unique sound and name. You will enjoy them and this interview.

Rob: Where does your name come from?

Naked Walrus: We are all extremely fascinated with the origin of large mammals. When we met in college we all realized that the walrus was our favorite animal that we studied and gravitated towards the idea of creating a band that shared its majestic name. As we wrote the initial tunes we felt intrigued by the raw nature of the material that we created and so we decided that “NAKED WALRUS” was the perfect identity for this project.

Rob: What is your new song “Minus” about?

Naked Walrus: Minus is a song that is about the process of creativity. We wrote it from the perspective of an artist seeking inspiration. The theme translates to the idea that good things take time and you can manifest your dreams with persistence.

Rob: Why did you title your new EP “Simple”?

Naked Walrus: We titled our EP “Simple” with the idea of playing off of the complexities of growing up. Although this isn’t simple at all we found that stripping it down to the basics is what we really needed.

Rob: Which artists inspired this new release?

Naked Walrus: Many artists inspired this release from Salvador Dali to Dave Grohl. The idea of the artist is a recurring theme that we wrote this album about. We think, believe and have experienced that being creative takes passion, which takes time to develop. All artists inspire us and that is why we create!

Rob: What is the greatest challenge for the band?

Naked Walrus: The greatest challenge we face is trying to finance all of the things we put into action. We are an unsigned band and so everything that we do is attached to our bank accounts. This means that we have to take time for each investment and really understand its validity.

Rob: What is the greatest joy of the band?

Naked Walrus: Every single moment. We appreciate our ability to make music and perform it live. It is our pleasure to be able to share that with the world.

Rob: What is your vision for the band’s future?

Naked Walrus: We plan on the future being more amazing than anything we could ever imagine!

You can pick up the “Simple EP’ on iTunes.
