Was Velvet Revolver any good?
Despite positive reviews, some critics initially described Velvet Revolver as a mere combination of Stone Temple Pilots and Guns N’ Roses, and criticizing them for a “disconnection” between Weiland and the rest of the band. With their single “Slither”, they won the 2005 Grammy Award for Best Hard Rock Performance.
Why did Velvet Revolver split?
After STP broke up, Weiland formed Velvet Revolver in 2003 with three former members of Guns N’ Roses, Slash, Duff McKagan and Matt Sorum and guitarist Dave Kushner. Slash cited Weiland’s “increasingly erratic onstage behavior and personal problems” as the reason for his dismissal.
Why did Stone Temple Pilots Break Up?
On November 9, 2015, Bennington announced he was amicably leaving Stone Temple Pilots to focus more on Linkin Park. He would not return to the band, as he committed suicide on July 20, 2017.
